Double Dip?

When you hear the term “double dip”, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?
A) A continuing economic recession that is sucking the life out of you and your business and creating more uncertainty and making everyone miserable?
B) Or are you like me and think ICE CREAM! You would have to be lying under a rock on an island in the middle of the ocean not to be constantly inundated with bad news about the economy. The experts are weighing in and it is not looking good for us. We are definitely in trouble.
Or are we?
As a business owner, you are not embolden to the economy. You have choices. You have control over your decisions and your actions. My clients will tell you that this is the one mantra I live by. Even if things go badly or seem to be on the wrong track, I control how I react to it and make adjustments. Hope and luck are not strategies.
One of my good friends, Carolyn Herfurth of The Biztruth, has a terrific video blog that I watch religiously. She also shares this philosophy in The 10 Business Truths That Will Set Your Sales Free which I think is brilliant. Here goes:
Biztruth 1-If you’re in business, you’re in sales.
Biztruth 2-If you want to make money in your business, you must treat it as a business.
Biztruth 3-If you’re unhappy with your results, there’s only one person to blame… and it’s not your prospects or clients (or the economy).
Biztruth 4-If you don’t have a handle on your numbers, it’s time to sharpen your pencil.
Biztruth 5-If you think marketing alone will make your sales for you, think again.
Biztruth 6-If you can’t ask, you’ll never get.
Biztruth 7-If you think it’s about you, you’re wrong.
Biztruth 8-If you don’t focus on pay time, you won’t get paid.
Biztruth 9-If you don’t invest in yourself, nobody else will either.
Biztruth 10-If you have a Plan B, don’t expect Plan A to succeed.
Time to shake off the bad news and bad economy. Get out, support local businesses and create some energy. Grab your friends, family or even your entire team and head out for some ice cream – and make it a double!
